Yee, so... I'm at college, and it pretty much kicks ass. The work load isn't that bad, and any sleep deprivation I experience is most likely due to my procrastination tendencies. My dorm is great, my roommate is great, my friends are great... The semester is at its close, but I did quite enjoy all my classes. I took a great theatre class, and an English class that addressed visuality and literature. Fun times. Hm. What else? I've downloaded a bunch of new music, so I really could sit and listen to my library on shuffle for hours. Every song I hear is great. Yaaay. I unfortunately haven't had much time to spend on visual art, as I'm not currently taking any arts classes. I do draw occasionally, and am looking forward to getting some good drawing/sewing over break. Which reminds me. I'm coming back to Amherst early because I"ll be in Sweeney Todd-- yay! What else...? I feel very egocentric, writing journals, but I do enjoy seeing what everyone else is up to, so hopefully you won't mind this one... Uh... I'm in our improv troupe, which is great fun... Yeee. I've been really enjoying meeting lots of new people and trying new things. My parents got a puppy. Who's adorable. I'm really looking forward to winter break. That's about it. Peace out. .... (like I just said that)
OHMYGODILOVESWEENEYTODDITISSOABSOLUTELYT HEBESTBROADWAYSHOWEVERWRITTENEVEREVEREVE R! I'm so excited for you! Who are you playing?
Beheheh, thanks... I'm in the ensemble, but it will still be great fun. The leads are sure to be stellar... And I think we'll be having 6-8 hour rehearsals 5 days a week for 3 weeks, so it will be an intense Sweeney experience
I know...I'm in the ensemble in a production of Sweeney right now too! (ohmygodWEIRD) We've already gotten halfway through learning the score, and those ensemble parts are evil - really, they're just inhumanely rangy and complex. *sigh* Well, part of Sondheim's trademark style is that he loves screwing around with his actors...
0_o This took a while... Anyway, yes, the ensemble parts were tricky! Especially when we put together a production in three weeks. But, it was still really fun and I now feel like a more complete person having been in Sweeney Todd. Have you performed yet?
Not yet, our rehearsal period's a bit longer - we've got...oh, I think five weeks left. We go up early March.
Wow, that seems like such a long time XD But the more time the better, right? My college puts on a musical every year and rehearsals are during J-term... Mostly 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. Fun, but intense 0_o I think I prefer normal rehearsal schedules.
